If you know anything about me, you know that I LOVE family history in general
and ADORE learning about my ancestors!
I can't get enough of genealogy
and
I love to spend my Sunday afternoon's researching genealogy records!

We have known through my grandmother Mildred's stories,
that we had ancestry who traveled to the New World on the Mayflower;
but only recently learned who these beautiful ancestors are.
My Grandmother used to say that we were Pennsylvania Dutch.
Now I know that one of my Mayflower Ancestors was indeed from Holland!

Below is a little bit about my Mayflower- Pilgrim Ancestors.
Maybe you have Pilgrim ancestors too?
If so...we could be cousins!
I LOVE finding my cousins!

If you think we might be...lets connect!

Love and Blessings,

Renee

MY MAYFLOWER -PILGRIM ANCESTORS

Picture
Francis Eaton-  (My 4th Cousin 11 x's removed, on my Paternal Grandmother's side. Also,  My 5th cousin 8 x's removed on my Paternal Grandfather's side.) Francis, with his wife and son, were passengers on the historic 1620 voyage of the Mayflower. His signature appears on the Mayflower Compact.. He is thought to be  Mayflower ship's carpenter.
In 1626 Francis Eaton was one of twenty-seven Purchasers involved with the colony joint-stock company which afterwards was turned over to the control of senior colony members. That group was called Undertakers, and was made up of such as William Bradford, Myles Standish and Isaac Allerton initially who were later joined by Edward Winslow, William Brewster, John Howland, John Alden, In the 1627 Division of Cattle, Francis and Christian Eaton, with children Samuel and Rachel, received several animals – a cow and two goats. The family had the tenth lot and were listed as "ffancis Eaton, wife Christian Eaton, Samuell Eaton, Rahell Eaton."

Edward Winslow - (My 11th Great Uncle on my Paternal Grandmother's side) Edward was a Separatist who traveled on the Mayflower in 1620. He was one of several senior leaders on the ship and also later at Plymouth Colony. Both Edward Winslow and his brother, Gilbert Winslow signed the Mayflower Compact. In Plymouth he served in a number of governmental positions such as assistant governor, three times was governor and also was the colony's agent in London.[2] In early 1621 he had been one of several key leaders on whom Governor Bradford depended after the death of John Carver. He was the author of several important pamphlets, including Good Newes from New England and co-wrote with William Bradford the historic Mourt's Relation, which ends with an account of the First Thanksgiving and the abundance of the New World. In 1655 he died of fever while on an English naval expedition in the Caribbean against the Spanish.
He is the only original Plymouth colonist with an extant portrait painted from life. This, along with portraits of Winslow's son and daughter-in-law, and various Winslow family artifacts, are in the Pilgrim Hall Museum, in Plymouth, Massachusetts.

Elizabeth Tilley (My 2nd cousin 13 times removed, on my Paternal Grandmothers side)

Elizabeth was one of the passengers on the historic 1620 voyage of the Mayflower and a participant in the first Thanksgiving in the New World. She was the daughter of Mayflower passenger John Tilley and his wife Joan Hurst and was about 13 years old during this journey. Although she was their youngest child, appears to be the only one who survived until the voyage. She went on to marry fellow Mayflower passenger John Howland, with whom she had ten children and 88 grandchildren. Because of their great progeny, she and her husband have millions of living descendants today. John and Elizabeth Howland founded one of the three largest Mayflower progenies and their descendants have been "associated largely with both the 'Boston Brahmins' and Harvard's 'intellectual aristocracy' of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries." American actors Humphrey Bogart, Anthony Perkins, and Alec Baldwin are counted among the descendants of John Howland.

John Howland (My 1st Cousin 12 x's removed on my Paternal Great Grandmother's side)

John accompanied the English Separatists and other passengers when they left England on the Mayflower to settle in Plymouth. He was an indentured servant and in later years an executive assistant and personal secretary to Governor John Carver.
He signed the Mayflower Compact and helped found the colony. During his service to Governor Carver, Howland assisted in the making of a treaty with the Sachem Massasoit of the Wampanoag. In 1626, he was a freeman and one of eight settlers who agreed to assume the colony's debt to its investors in exchange for a monopoly on the fur trade. He was elected deputy to the Plymouth General Court in 1641 and held the position until 1655, and again in 1658. He lived to be 80 years old and was the longest living male Mayflower passenger. His wife Elizabeth Tilley outlived him by 15 years!

Picture
Richard Warren ( My 3rd Cousin 12 x's removed, on my Maternal Grandmother's side) Richard was one of the passengers on the Pilgrim ship Mayflower and a signer of the Mayflower Compact.
He participated in some of the early explorations of Cape Cod, when a suitable settlement location was being searched for.

One such extensive exploration began on Wednesday, 6 December 1620 in freezing weather using the ship's shallop, a light, shallow-water boat with oars and sails which was navigated by two pilots, with a master gunner and three sailors. Pilgrims on board, in addition to Richard Warren, were senior members (Governor) Carver, Bradford, Standish and Winslow along with John and Edward Tilley, John Howland, Stephen Hopkins and Hopkins servant, Edward Doty. These persons were less than half the number of the previous exploration due to many having been felled by illness, the English exploring in freezing temperatures wearing unsuitable clothing due to not planning for the severity of the New England winter weather. This exploration would result in their first encounter with Indians and did not turn out well, as they learned that slow-firing muskets were no match for rapid-fire arrows. This Indian challenge to the Pilgrims was later known as the First Encounter.[7]
In 1623 Warren felt that conditions were right to bring his family over from England, and they arrived that year on the Anne.
Richard lived just 5 or 6 years after coming to Plymouth, and died leaving his wife Elizabeth a widow with 7 children.
All seven children lived long lives and have a large posterity, including many famous individuals.

Picture
Samuel Fuller   (My 1st Cousin 13 x's removed, on my paternal grandmothers side) Samuel came from Holland, and was a passenger on the historic 1620 voyage of the Pilgrim ship Mayflower and became a respected church deacon and the physician for Plymouth Colony.
Samuel boarded the Mayflower with only his servant William Butten, leaving his wife Bridget and his young daughter Bridget behind in Leiden, awaiting until the colony conditions would better suit families.
His brother, Edward Fuller was also a passenger and traveled with his wife and a son, also named Samuel.
In the winter of 1620-1621, almost half of the Pilgrims died of starvation. Samuel lost his brother, Edward and sister-in-law. Samuel became the guardian of his nephew by the same name of Samuel. In 1623, Samuel's wife Bridget arrived on the ship Anne. Also in 1623, as part of the Division of Land, Samuel received two acres of land and his wife Bridget received her share "in with a corner by the pond."
In 1626, Samuel Fuller, along with other senior company members Bradford, Brewster, Winslow, Standish, Allerton, and others was one of the Purchasers involved with the joint-stock company.
